It's actually a myth that Einstein failed his algebra class. In fact, he excelled at it and considered becoming a mathematician for a while. This statement came from an issue of Ripley's Believe it Or Not. Nice stamp nonetheless :>
you know that the fact he had bad grades is a misunderstanding right?
in case you don't believe me:" Einstein was a top student in elementary school, getting mostly top grades on the German grading scale of 1-6, which silly Americans later assumed, backwardly, were "D"s. The idea stuck because everybody loves the idea that their poor student can go on to great things."
Xb ACTUALLY!!! You know that statement is false, Einstein never had failing Grades, in FACT he was the top in all of his classes including classes such as Greek, where he had some difficulties. In Ripley's believe it or not, it does say this famous man did fail school, however, as stated in Einstein biography (by Walter Isaacson), when word of this "believe it or not article" reached Einstein he laughed and simply stated that he indeed did NOT fail school!
